Audio Formats

Atlas extracts metadata from audio files and plugin bundles — the formats that carry render provenance, instrument tuning data, and plugin identity information.

These extractors don’t discover file-to-file references in the same way DAW project extractors do. Instead, they read embedded metadata that establishes where a file came from (render provenance), what it contains (instrument mapping, authorship), or what it is (plugin identity). This metadata enriches the lineage graph with context that would otherwise be invisible.

Extractors

  • AIFF (.aif) — Audio format metadata and instrument tuning data
  • WAV Metadata (.wav) — BWF/BEXT render provenance (originating DAW, render time)
  • Plugin Formats (.plist) — VST, VST3, AU, AAX, CLAP plugin bundle metadata
  • Bitwig Presets (.bwpreset) — Preset authorship, description, categorization
