Native Instruments

Atlas extracts structural references from Native Instruments file formats — the instrument files, preset libraries, and content registration files that make up NI’s ecosystem.

Most NI formats share a common binary container structure. The Kontakt extractor handles the primary instrument formats (.nki, .nbkt, .nkm), while dedicated extractors cover NKS presets, snapshots, content registration, and Reaktor ensembles. Together they give Atlas visibility into library identifiers, sample references, and the relationships between instruments and their dependent resources.

Extractors

  • Kontakt (.nki) — Library identifiers, instrument metadata, sample file references
  • Kontakt Multis (.nkm) — Multi-instrument containers referencing multiple Kontakt instruments
  • Battery Kits (.nbkt) — Battery kit library identifiers and kit names
  • NKS Sound Files (.nksf) — NKS preset metadata and categorization
  • NKS Snapshots (.nksn) — Snapshot-to-library associations
  • NI Content Registration (.nicnt) — Library identity, product name, version
  • Reaktor (.nrkt) — Ensemble file references and library associations
